The 8 Best Eco-Friendly Products You Need this Summer

Let’s start helping the planet and ourselves, shall we. These are my 8 favorite eco-friendly products that you need this summer and honestly ––year round! These products are great for long days in the sun and outdoor activities. As consumers, we vote for the world we want with what we buy. Every small purchase makes a difference. These are products I use in my own life every day.

1. A Mineral-Based Sunscreen

Why should you invest in a mineral-based sunscreen, and how is it eco-friendly?

After switching my skincare routine to 100% natural products, my skin broke out horribly when I tried using a conventional sunscreen. All of the unnecessary chemicals that are both bad for you and the environment are a big HECK NO on my list.

I found this Bare Republic Sunscreen and I love everything about it. It’s mineral based, and goes from cream-to-powder. It left my skin feeling silky smooth and didn’t leave a greasy shine on my face. It is infused with antioxidants and protects your skin from other environmental stressors.

I love that it’s unscented, for all my sensitive skin girls out there! It’s also paraben-free, sulfate-free, phthalate-free, preservative-free (Free of GMO’s), cruelty-free, gluten-free, vegan, reef friendly, and protects from UVA/UVB rays. I highly recommend checking out this mineral-based sunscreen.

2. Reusable Cups and Straws

Staying hydrated is a must in the warm summer months. This means everyone is drinking lots and lots of water. Did you know that only 23% of water bottles are recycled, and there are 1 million bottles of water bought every minute?

To be more eco-friendly and responsible, try using a reusable cup and straws. You can get a tumbler, a stainless steel mug for hot or cold drinks, a reusable water bottle, or metal straws. They are all easy to clean and you can find ones that are dishwasher friendly.

A bonus for my coffee lovers, is if you bring a reusable cup or mug to Starbucks and/or many other cafes; they will give you 10 cents off! That’s saving money and the planet!

Think of how many plastic bottles you could prevent from going to the landfills, and the amount of money you could save by using a reusable cup!

3. Burt’s Bees Sensitive Skin Face Lotion

This is my go-to daily moisturizing cream! It is 98.9% natural, and is great for sensitive skin. It’s super lightweight, making it great for the summer months.

I love that it is paraben-free, phthalate-free, fragrance-free, and cruelty-free. Being free of all of these unnecessary add-ins makes it better for you and the eco-system.

Whenever we wash our hands or face, whatever was on them goes down the drain and back to our environment. Having natural products means that whatever goes down the drain will cause way less harm; unlike other conventional products.

Check out this great eco-friendly moisturizer this summer!

4. Reusable Tote Bags

Whether you are carrying groceries or packing up to go to the beach, a reusable tote bag is a must-have!

Did you know that every year 8 million metric tons of plastic end up in our oceans. It’s equivalent to five grocery bags filled with plastic for every foot of coastline in the world”.

That is an absurd amount of plastic! With only a little bit of conscious thought, you can eliminate your plastic bag trail by switching to reusable bags.

They are sturdier, larger, and have a longer lifespan than plastic bags. Switch to this important eco-friendly alternative today!

5. Physician’s Formula Pressed-Setting Powder

Hold your makeup in place all day, and prevent sun damage with this talc-free setting powder! This powder holds my makeup in place through the hot summer days without giving me a white-cast in pictures.

This formula is skin and eco-friendly with SPF 16 and is phthalate-free, sulfate-free, talc-free, fragrance-free, gluten-free and cruelty-free. It also provides you with your daily dose of vitamins A and E, minerals and natural antioxidants to help protect and condition skin.

Can you tell that I LOVE Primally Pure products? Their deodorant was the first thing I switched to when I started my all natural skincare journey.

After learning about all of the awful ingredients that were in conventional deodorants (such as breast cancer causing parabens), I knew I had to switch.

Primally Pure has made that switch so easy with this gentle, yet effective deodorant formula. They come in a variety of scents, but I love the smells of Blue Tansy and Lavender.
